Luke and Adam

Rhythmic Riot founders Adam Amer and Luke Howell met whilst working together at an English foreign language summer school in the UK. During the leisure activities period they raided the school's music room for all it was worth and arranged their first Rhythmic Riot. Having gone down a storm with all involved, they decided to equip themselves with a leathal arsenal of dangerously noisy proportions and went on a summer school tour of the UK. Since then Luke and Adam have worked in a whole host of venues from summer schools and primary schools to festivals, community fund raisers and special needs events. Check out the feedback page for details. Rhythmic Riot are keen to continue working in a variety of new settings.

Great communicators, Luke and Adam are both qualified EFL teachers as well as experienced drum circle facilitators. Relaxed, well-travelled, patient and enthusiastic, they are keen to energise and enthuse anyone who wishes to learn in a fun and inspiring way.

Adam Amer

Adam Amer first played the drums at the age of 10. With the original intention of learning the bass guitar, he was offered to 'have a quick try' on the drum kit. He then selfishly hogged the drums for the duration of the evening: an unbreakable bond was formed.

Since then, Adam has played in numerous bands and projects, performing in public for the first time aged 11 in school rock band Orchard. Adam went on to play for college and university bands and later with Manchester band Redway. During this time, Adam began providing one-to-one tuition and now has 7 years tutoring experience. Today, Adam is a drum circle facilitator and currently plays Samba, Afro-Cuban and West African rhythms with Leeds-based percussion group, Honeydrum.

Luke currently plays samba and Afro-Cuban rhythms with Honeydrum, and African drumming with Knock on Wood and Iya Sako. When Luke is not drumming, he teaches English as a foreign language and enjoys travelling and collecting drums from around the world.
